Yikes!
A few weeks ago was my birthday! It was so great. I’m another year older, I got to spend time with family and friends, and my fiance’, Carrie, gave me some Mantis egg sacks. How odd you might say
. Well, I really love odd things and she knows me so well! Honestly, I was a little creeped out at first but it was the good kind of creepiness.
Anyway, I got a little stick and attached the sacks to the stick inside of a little container and waited for the inevitable. Within a few weeks those little mantids started to wriggle and squirm out of the eggs and had soon filled the inside of my little fish bowl.
From that point on I had to make so many decisions about the future of my little babies… do I leave them be and let them eat each other hoping that the strongest would survive? Should I let a bunch go hoping they would be able to fend for themselves?
Stay tuned for further updates…

We did it!
A few months ago my cousin Callie asked me to help her out with a t-shirt design. She and her husband Michael were taking part in a walk to help raise money for Juvenile Diabetes research. She had come up with ‘Sugar Daddy and the Pancreatically Challenged’ as the theme for the shirt which immediately conjures fun images, right? She further thought we could feature a Sugar Daddy as the lead singer in band and have a Pancreas, syringe, and heart monitor as the band members. So I came up with the design you see above and she had them printed. I’m not sure how much money they were able to raise but the t-shirt design won first prize
. Woo hoo!

Well, I did it. I spent some hard earned money on a photography workshop…
huh?
Yes, you heard me… photography! My fiance is a very talented photographer and enjoys shooting weddings among other things. She has many talents but this is something that we felt could be developed and parlayed into something lucrative. Someday we’d like to have kiddos running around so we thought this would be a great way to make some extra money and have more time for a family.
The workshop was called Get Inspired and Carrie and I were totally inspired! I miss being there! My brain is on overload and I can’t sit still and work this week because I want to be out taking pictures
. To sum it up, we spent about 16 hours with some of the most talented photographers around and learned everything; Camera basics, Photoshop workflow, conducting a model shoot, marketing our business, pricing our work… it was way fun and way intense. Holly, Jen, John and their team really rocked it!
Now I just need to buy a real camera
.
Carrie has all of our photos so once I get those and check em out I’ll upload a few.
