Lucy's Beard
A recent post on my brother-in-law’s Facebook page said…
Tonight before bed, Lucy said, “Daddy, can you take off your beard so I can try it on?”
It made me laugh out loud! I could almost see the scene taking place so here is how I imagined it. I wonder how long it would be before she’d decide it wasn’t any fun anymore
.
Well, the Indy 500 was several weeks ago but it’s taken me a while to get around to my tribute to that weekend. I was invited to go along with my Dad, my brother, and my brother’s father-in-law to a weekend at the races! I’d never been so this was a new experience for me. The race would have been fun on it’s own but our host, Aaron, cooked up a storm! Marinated steaks, strawberry shortcake, coffee icecream pie, french toast fondu!! I think we all ate enough calories to last the rest of the week
. It was a great weekend so I worked up a little thank-you illustration for Aaron. Here are the boys…

My wife had planned to help my sister with a craft project by going to Field’s Fabric. What resulted was a fun afternoon swinging at Milham park and some great pictures! Enjoy.
More to see here!
Whoa! Where have I been?
I have just had the best Christmas with family (both old and new
and friends. I shared new traditions with my wife and her family. The most memorable being a gift box for Jesus where we wrote our gifts to him onto a card and put them in the box to be opened next year. (Actually mine never made it in the box but I want to add it soon!). I also shared a Christmas at my parents house with the usual suspects and the addition of my wife and 2 nieces nearly 2 years of age. It was so much fun to see Christmas through the eyes of children
.
Well, here is my latest art piece. A banner for a web blog called Write No Evil. My initial sketch didn’t really excite me all that much but this one feels a lot better.
Until next post!
Dave
Hey friends, I’m back! It’s been a month or two since my last post and I’ve missed it! During that time I’ve moved to Kalamazoo, married my dream girl, and had a much needed honeymoon in Seagrove Beach, FL. Thanks so much to all of my friends and family who made our wedding day so wonderful! I plan on getting back to the art posts and letting you know what I’m working on so stay tuned. In the mean time, if you are interested in photos from the wedding here are some links to get you there.

I don’t know why but moving, working, and getting hitched is hard work! I feel like I should be able to handle it better but I get tired and cranky
. Thankfully I have a wonderful group of family and friends to look to for support. Thanks Dad, Mom, Steve, Jim, Aunt Robin, and Nicole for helping me pack and clean up my house this week. There’s only a little left to do and closing is Friday at 4:30pm!
I have relocated my office and life to my parents house for a month until I close on the new house in Kalamazoo. It’s been a welcome relief to not be surrounded by messiness and my life in boxes. I’ve definitely slept better and feel like I have a handle on things once again!
This weekend Carrie and Jim stopped by to visit my folks and we had a lot of fun with the girls. I love em so much! Look at the photos and see
.
The past year has been super busy and life changing! From fixing up and selling Carrie’s home to fixing up and selling my home there’s been a lot to do! We wouldn’t have gotten to where we are now without the love, support, and prayers of our family and friends. I still need to move my things to Kalamazoo but I think we can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Carrie and I made an offer on the home pictured above and it was accepted! It’s a small miracle to have found a place that makes both of us giddy with excitement. I can’t wait to have a house with a spouse
!
September 27th is right around the corner!

Carrie and I drove to Ann Arbor yesterday and had a great time with our wedding photographer, Nicole Ladonne, taking engagement pictures… Yes, I realize it’s been nearly 8 months since the engagement but we wanted to have them done and it was a great opportunity to get to know Nicole
. Nicole was a lot of fun and had some great ideas for romantic and fun photos as we walked around downtown Ann Arbor. Thanks Nicole! Carrie and I can’t wait for the wedding photos… it’s only 2 months away!!!
House hunting again tonight. There is no rest for the weary
. Signing off!
