I’ve been busy trying to keep up with a few book projects and other various things going on. Meanwhile I’m still making sketches for my Sketchoholic friends. Here are a few of the prizes I’ve made. If you feel like drawing head on over and sign up for a free account so you can join us!

It’s week 4! The topic I chose this week is Princess in Peril or Damsel in Distress. I hope it inspires some fun drawings! Next week I’ve asked a fellow sketchoholic to do a sketch and choose the topic and it sounds like they’re doing it! I’ll post more about it next week but I’m so excited about including other artists in this contest series (even if we’re not so famous
.
Whoa! Looks like this blog has been on vacation… what’s going on here? Lots!
I’m here today to mention that I’m hosting a few contests over on Sketchoholic.com. I’ve missed the weekly competitions over there. It’s really nice to be part of a community of artists who just want to draw together! I decided it was about time I gave back a little and so that’s what I’m doing! I’ve been inking some 4×6 drawings as prizes and so far I have enough for 4 contests.
‘Monster Portrait’ was the first contest and it’s nearly wrapped up. It’s been fun to see all of the variations on the theme! Here is the prize for this contest…
If you are interested in checking out the next contest it should start Monday of next week! Visit Sketchoholic.com and look for the icon at the top of this post. I’m calling the series ‘Sketchoholics Anonymous’ so come on out and join me for some drawing!
Happy Thanksgiving’s Eve! I hope everyone is enjoying a happy and safe holiday season. The snow has yet to make an appearance here in Kalamazoo but I’m ready for it.
Today’s image is a Sketchoholic.com contest based on the theme ‘Webbed Feet’. There were a lot of creatures from the black lagoon and lots of creative takes on the subject! I couldn’t get the Lord of the Rings out of my head so here is Bilbo and his encounter with Sheelob. Must be the season to sit inside for a 12 hour (?) marathon of LOTR!
In other news…
-I’ve just completed the Miles family holiday card! I’m pretty excited about this one and will post a view of it on Christmas Eve.
-I also wanted to thank the friends and family who have supported ‘Cop’s Night Before Christmas’! I have a post in the making with photos from a book signing as well as an update on my artwork giveaway. If you’d like to enter to win the art you still have time. You just need to leave a comment here with you correct email address and your favorite holiday food. If nothing else you should check out the other comments! I can almost smell the goodies!
Thanks for stopping by!
What?!
These pictures have nothing to do with water!… unless you think about watering the ‘Head Plant’ but that’s not what I mean. I’ve been struggling with how to depict water in a book I’m working on this week. I’ve painted the water, erased the water, and started over several times already! I decided I needed to clear my head and work on some pieces that were completely unrelated. Sketchoholics unite!
Maybe I’ll post about the water later

I’m loving these hour long sketch breaks so much I’ve been trying to do one a day. It’s really been a great brain exercise and I can feel progress! I love it. Today I struggled with creating a unique interpretation of ‘Mustache’ so I decided to go with a familiar theme and just try to do it well. While I like how my Walrus turned out, a bunch of other people went the same direction! Oh well… better luck next time!
