Cop’s Night Before Christmas, by Michael Harrison

This past winter I illustrated a book called Cop’s Night Before Christmas, by Michael Harrison.  It’s a great story about a policeman whose duties call him to serve on Christmas Eve, away from his family.  I really enjoyed illustrating it and can’t wait to see the final product!  I just found out that Michael Harrison will be featured in American Profile magazine in 2011!

American Profile will run a feature on Michael Harrison, author of Cop’s Night Before Christmas for Christmas Eve 2011. The story will mostly be about police officers working on Christmas Eve and Michael has worked more Christmas Eves than most police officers. The book will be mentioned in conjunction with the story.

American Profile is a weekly, four-color magazine that circulates within community newspapers nationwide.

To get ready for its release this fall I’m posting a few of my favorite images… check back in September for a few more!

  • Dave! These are FANTASTIC! You did a wonderful job. I love the lighting and all.

  • Thanks Michele! I actually had your diner paintings in mind when choosing the style for the Donut Shop :). I couldn’t resist the call of neon!

    Mr. Miles:

I’m happy to have found this link to you. I want to thank you for the outstanding work you did on this book. I had reservations with other artists who were screened locally for the job. But I could not have been happier when I saw what you created for Cop’s. Thanks again for the fantastic illustrations.

I thought your work is outstanding. When I saw the pictures with the neon lights I couldn’t believe how real it looked. Our whole family was so excited to see the work you did. We can’t wait till it comes out also. Thanks for the great job you did for Michael.

Officer Harrison came to my kindergarten class last week and read his book to my students. It was awesome to be able to introduce him as the author of the book and actually have him read it to the class. It is a wonderful children’s book and went along perfectly with our unit on community helpers. It showed how police officers are always on duty helping out our community. Thank you so much, Officer Harrison!
